Education/Training/Certification: There are different requirements when becoming a blood spatter analyst based on the education the individual has. If you plan to pursue the career with no college degree you must have at least four year experience in a similar field, with an associate's degree you must have at least two years experience, and to be greatly competitive an individual should obtain a bachelor's degree in criminal justice: forensic science. Once hired, the new blood spatter analyst will work closely with a mentor, until the individual has passed an exam proving a complete understanding in bloodstain pattern analysis.
Responsibilities and/or Daily Activities: Blood spatter analyst examine any blood found at a crime scene by taking photographs, using swabs and ultraviolet light to detect and collect trace evidence, and recreating the blood spatter to better understand the bloodstain patterns.
Salary: The salary can range from as low as $32,900 to a high of $160,000, depending on the blood spatter analyst's experience and place of work.
